Are you rich then....

When I saw ..DIL DOSTI ETC... wondered why the movies which are called realistic are like this and Page 3 also  always show ...

Rich man as philandering husbands,

Rich mothers without any morals always embarrassing their children with their promiscuity,

Rich fathers encouraging their daughters to go up in life leaving the morality behind.

Rich boys taking physical relationships very casually,

Middle class bearing the brunt of being backward,

Morals and values being derided by rich and upheld only by not so rich

So is there a connection between being rich and immoral?

Cant we have both..values and money?

Is really all rich are like that?...I hate to believe that.

But If all above is true then upper class society is totally decadent ....I am happy being a middle class genuinely..not one of those who get rich without values and then shout at the top..I have my middle class values intact:)

I have a firm belief that...

Beauty and brains can be together,

Money and character are not antonyms, but the qualities can go together,

Not all poor are ethical, nice and kind, nor all rich are cruel and dishonest.

The way rich people are shown in the movies...nobody could admire them, but i admire, TatasBirlasMurthys.....I refuse to believe that with money, vices come naturally.

What do you think?

Agree, although greed for money does tend to corrupt, I'm sure there are good people who have money too.

Yeah not all rich are so immoral.
But yes as u said such movies depict this!!! Good thought!

Movies usually generalise a lot- "all" middle class people are conservative, or "all" rich people are without morals.

I don't think it's good to generalise so much. Everyone is different.

Personally I agree with you- I don't think vices come naturally with money.....

Good post. :)

There are all kinds of people in this world. All the types you mentioned, and some others too exist.

And one point struck me. Beauty and brains can definitely go together. It's just that the definition of beauty today means make-up, curled hair and short dresses.

Being simple and kind is being beautiful to me and such people definitely have the brains. :)

Commercialization has created enormous wealth....and where wealth accumulates morality certainly decay, so undoubtedly the morality of the individuals in a materialistic society has been corrupted beyond compare....though its not same in all cases...!!

Most movies depict extremes of life and are no measure of reality!

Its possible that rich and good quality can be found in USA and other nations.

But in India without doing corruption one can not become rich.

Very well written. Not all rich people are cruel and not all poor people are ethical and kind. I have come across worst ego problems from some poor people.

Wealth means riches today and it is the most unfortunate thing. And I am glad to say that I am not rich and hope I never am if it means losing perspectives on life.

I don't think they are trying to say all rich are like tht....they are only saying that all rich in 'their' movie are like tht;-D

You are right...almost all movies depict things that way! Wish they knew what being realistic is all about!

In the process of making money and getting rich, we forget that we come from a nation where values, integrity, respect are of utmost priority!
Yes money and value can go together, beauty and simplicity can go together, rich and poor can go together! :)

ash:Ibelieve so.

Ramya:welcome here Ramya

Manjujoglekar:I have a firm belief that money and ethics can go together.

Bikram:I feel its noveau riche people who spoil the kids..and since they dont have any morals, they cant give them to their children.

enigma: you have pointed well..beauty means different things to different people...

Irfanuddin:it depends on the people...if one wants one can remain ethical and earn money.

Rahul Bhatia:and those extremes make an impact on people.s mind..

sm:I dont agree with that...in India also there are many who are rich and honest...

SG: exactly..even I have faced the same, once I wrote also about it...

Lovely post got me thinking :) Nothing bad being rich as long as we remember "पैसा उपयोग केय लिये हैय न कि उपभोग केय लिये"!
Cheers :)
