I love my parents and wish them to live 100 yrs

ON face book I get many posts saying.I love my parents and wish them to live 100 yrs..And i start thinking..its my brain which makes me think everything....why do they wish their parents to live 100 years...because most of the time a person above 90 cant be very independent and needs children to look after him/her, whereas their children will also be at that time in the age group of late 60;s or early 70's, and they themselves may be in need of care..of course its all probability only..some people may be fit and fine after 90 and may be independent also..but i am talking in general...How many children are able to take care of their parents for 40 years....barely minimum no. of people..most of the children get fed up after 15 yrs..They want an independent life...and there is nothing wrong with it..its a tiresome journey to look after somebody your whole life..even if he/she is your parent.

So get real..why wish something like this which is totally hypothetical..why not wish your parents a happy, healthy and respectful life..irrespective of years.

Even for myself I never wish for a long life for myself, instead I wish to be useful to somebody and live an independent life..I have no desire to see my grandchildren, then their childhood, then their marriage.....so on so forth...the list goes on...

Atrue incient

It must be 1989, I was running a departmental store, and suppliers used to come to me, sometimes for the known products and sometimes with a new one. One day a supplier came to me and said-------
I supply the washing soap 555 and a new product, which is like a Tinopal but used mostly in industries, we are manufacturing it our selves.
and he showed me samples of some yellow powder in plain polythene packets.
In the mean time a customer came and bought a few things and then he happened to see those pockets. He asked me whether I sold those packets, because in his factory they need bulk quantity of that and in case i had them, he would certainly prefer to take it from me.
I was so happy and smiling from ear to ear , thinking-see, i got such a good opportunity inbusiness, I will take order from him and supply from that.
Without thinking any more I asked the supplier to give me 200 packets of those, he had with him some around 100 , he left those there and asked for the payment. Now I always used to do the payments next week--that is a week credit, so I told him that. Then he said would i mind if instead of cash he take some products my shop. LOL, My happiness increased, as I got some more sale(ham to aur khush aur bikri ho rahi ha........ )
And notice that he started with--he supplies 555--a known brand-----but all this time neither he took the order for that nor I noticed that. That was his ploy for getting a good g=credential in my mind.
Now u will say then...........what happened..................hona kya tha, he dissappeared neverto show his face.:(
This is life my dear, which teaches you at every step. Now its upto u how u learn. Nothing happens without a reason.

Longevity

Whenever i read in the paper that scientists are doing research to increase the age of human beings, I feel exasperated. I mean why increase the quantity, why not work towards quality. There are very few people who are above 80 and can contribute anything to..self, family or society. Instead they just live a life of non productivity and sometimes making other's life miserable.

Imagine a son of 65 looking after his parents of 95..is it a pleasant scenario? When one advances in the age ,one looks for a life atleast free of responsibilities, because with ageing, looking after self is also not an easy job.It is enough if one is not dependent on one's children at that time, but taking responsibility for old parents is very difficult. Though it sounds bad, but service to parents also comes with an expiry date.

I have always felt that instead of adding years to life, we must add life to few years. I dont aspire for a long life..never, rather scared of living long.We must live a life of productivity and usefulness to others, the day we stop being that, we are no good..ofcourse thats my ideology.I dont have that desires like..god let me see my grand son grow, or his marriage, then children..and the circle never stops.....I am fully satisfied with my life, having done my duties, ready for any eventuality.the only thing I fear is that i dont want to live a life dependent on anybody..physically, mentally or financially...but since birth and death are not in our hands, we must do whatever we can to make ourselves useful or independent.

New year resolutions

Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each new year find you a better man.
Benjamin Franklin

WISHING YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY 2010 !!

Last year I took some resolutions here..now I am going to introspect did I follow them

Firsts was never to complain..I couldn't do it so well...some people tried my patience and won .I tried my best to take the worst in my stride, but couldnt and failed myself.

Acceptance and acknowledgement... Here I have progressed a little, Except rudeness , I have got enough acceptance, for everything else. And yes I acknowledge everything and everybody in life, thinking that it will bring some good, but sometimes it happens that if you acknowledge some mandatory things, people may think that they are too good and not the person who is feeling grateful for small things , so it may backfire...now i will have to be careful in my praise also:)

genuine..that I am always , everywhere, could never be a hypocrite..to me speaking sweetly and then stabbing a person is much worse than not speaking sweetly..its better to show everybody your real self, so that none expects anything otherwise.

Happy....here I am trying to be happy with myself. Slowly slowly I am trying to detach myself with everything and everyone who brings negativity in my life.

not hurting anybody..I always try never to hurt anybody, but sometimes speaking the truth also hurts someone, like if you call a fat and lazy person..fat and lazy, he would feel hurt, though its true...so now my effort would be not to speak at such times:)

Care for you environment..that I am born with..I cant see anyone wasting water, or using too much of plastic..rather I cant waste anything.

Consume less....here I come at the top:)..I buy only what and when I need..no hoardings at all..though I understood the meaning of hoarding very late:)..our indulgence deprives somebody.

Every year I think of taking a resolution of not accepting any gift of money or things from anybody except my husband, but dont because some people might not take it in right perspective, and I never go back on my promises even to myself, from my side, its my long lived desire, that I must live on my own, and the last decade(or some more years) of my life, I just want to live free of everything..responsibilities, restrictions and any obligations, there must be a time in your life when you can live in peace.....I love doing things for everybody but hate this fear gnawing at my heart..if I dont do this..he/she will feel bad..I want to be free of this heart and want to live bindaas( not that i am interested in doing something out of the boundaries)..just living free of any bindings and fears. Giving me freedom from all obligations is the biggest gift i may get...sometimes it makes me feel like a bird in a golden cage...from the elders to the youngsters, everybody has always had umpteen expectations from me.and i fulfilled most of them, but now I think the time has come for a change...the way everybody wants me to be cool and comfortable with them, let me be me too....all of us should be happy with what we get...no complaints, no suggestions.

No more ambitions for me, except to see happiness all around me.Now only desire I have left is if I could touch a single person's life in a good way, I will think of my life as well lived

MIX N MATCH

For last 5 days I was without my comp:( and it was as if life has just stopped:). and now i dont know what to write or where to start, seems to me as if I have lost the touch., So this post is about nothing special, just a pot pouri of many thoughts and things.
Since I didnt have computer working, so i saw a lot of movies..Ruthless people (its remake was i think..mujhe meri bibi se bachao) , Dear Frankie, Far & Away Donny brasco, Erin brokovich.
In Hindi there was nothing good on TV and nothing which I havent seen earlier.
TV serials...i have stopped watching Balika badhu, and so have most of my aquantances i talked to, as its going down the drain as it happens with all the serials. Now there is a new channel..REAL.. and it has started with a lot of promise.. i saw 2 episodes of a serial..NAMAK HARAM ( no resemblance to the movie except the corruption of bussiness houses).....Sachin Sharma has done a swell job and Narayni shastri is also very convincing as an IAS officer except that i am yet to see an IAS officer with a hairstyle of a model:). and then there is a new reality show...SARKAR KI DUNIA and few game shows.
Then I watched yesterday Filmfare Awards............so lets have some gossip:)
The function was very lifeless..no spark at all...no good performances, no good designers, absolutely nothing to watch for, Deepika as an anchor wore a saree looking totally washed out and blouse has become a total casualty in this generation, and Konkona was looking like a heroine of 70's. Bipasha always makes a mockery of dressing in an elegant indian saree, I wish she restricts herself to western dresses. indian dresses look elegant only covered .Total ceremony was so lacklustre. Om Puri, one of my favourite actor got a life time achievement award and was given by Amitabh bacchan, and I was waiting for some powerful speeches, but sadly both dissappointed me, both gave the shortest speech possible.
Shahid gave a performance and Kareena aplauded, but Shahid has lost his smile and a sad person performing is not a treat for viewers, Abhishek was looking like a clown, only Katrina was looking beautiful like a porcelain statue she is. Farhan sang but only Adhuna liked his song so much to get hyper excited,he is a looker and a good director also, but singer???? But see the irony......of our ways....he got more aplause than Sukhvinder( he didnt perform but came on stage to take his award for best male playback singer), we never aplaud the talent but the person.
Trying to avoid controversies, this time Imran and Ranbir were so sugary sweet that one could become diabetic:) Both were looking dashing but they need lessons, I sorely missed the combo of Saif and Shahrukh. Even Karan johar is now-a-days repeating himself all the time.
Earlier there used to be some good performances from comedians and others, now nothing was there...itni badi industry aur lag raha tha ki koi ha hi nahi.and i was surprised to see Rekha with Sindoor, earlier also on some channel they were showing like a detective serial that they saw her going to mahalakshmi temple with sindoor and all....aakhir chakkar kya ha? , nobody has the guts to ask her this question, so they keep guessing.

And then yesterday in our complex we celebrated Woman's day.......with games eats and then felicitating our women workers. and then i got two sms, which I am sharing with all my women friends:)

A woman of real beauty smiles in trouble,
gathers strength from distress and
grows brave through prayer. ( this is from my sister)

She is elegant,yet strong.
delicate yet powerful
beautiful yet dangerous
Tender yet bold,
She gives life,
she gives love,
She makes the whole world.....yes she is the one and only you.
Proud to be a woman.....Happy woman's day! ( This is from Sandhya..my friend from blogville

SATYAM-- is it?

yesterday was the worst day of my life. I cant believe it that I bought Satyam just one hour before the mayhem. But who could have thought or imagin even that even books are fake, accounts are fake, and one of the esteemed auditors have either bungled or co-operated at the cost of Junta. My bro didnt want me to buy, but then my H thought that they have so much of cash reserve and all that....... and lo...........everything fell like nine pins. I am a very minuscule investor, but think about the other hundresds of investors/ whats happening in India. With a set frequency we are loosing our hard earned money, First there was harshad mehta in 92-93, then after 5 yrs we had parekh............then again after 5 yrs we had the biggest fall in the market.....,and then there was this CRB..where even govt sanctioned tax rebate also on deposits, and many other finance companies gone bust........How long and how many mishaps will it take to make the govt. and SEBI work, may be its time investors thought of some guidelines or some safety mechanism,I wonder what is it which makes these businessmen cheat with elan and impunity of a rich man,I cant sleep for a night even, if somebody gets ruined by any of my actions and they are ruining the country without any remorse whatsoever, they are worse than the politicians even, something is wrong with the moral fabric of society, its time to take proper measures in all directions.
Most of the youth crib about everything Indian, but when it comes to enter the system, they shy away citing it as a mess...but we need some people to clear the mess also.
You cannot solve a problem until you acknowledge that you have one and accept responsibility for solving it.
Yesterday I dont know why, but I felt very sad, it was neither the first time I lost, nor the amount was too big, but may be it hurt me for multiple reasons and biggest one was that.......it was a real scam..everything fake, this way we cant trust anybody.....tomorrow suppose any other big house collapses like that then.....should we stop investing or stop doing business?----all the Tv channels were advising like big brother..invest carefully...take all the info etc...info my foot, where were they before/ none said anything about it? How does an investor know about any company..by the auditor's verdict....balance sheet...what else?
So its true...Life is all about correcting mistakes.....but how?

Few firsts.......

I read somewhere, someone. blog name..something we get too cheap...something like that and it reminded me that today there are so many things that we hardly notice even, but the first time we get it, the thrill is overwhelming, or till we dont get anything, we always think that may be once we get it, life will be a bliss, how wrong we are. Life is always bliss, its only we who see outside, never inside. Just see ...these are the few firsts in my life, and I always thought then that once I get them, but even you cant say..its a big thing:)
  • In my childhood, there wasnt electricity everywhere, and first time when we got it....it was.....oh lala:), now just switch it on and u have light..no lanterns and candles.
  • Then we used to have hand pumps, one had to work to get water even, and first time when we got this tap connection, I was so thrilled,.
  • We used to go to Ganga Ghat by Bullock cart.....yeah believe me, I had many bullock cart rides, cemented roads and transport came much later......
  • First time when i heard from my Mausi that they have TV and everyday sunday they watch movie at home......felt so envious...see how lucky they are(in those days TV reception was limited to big cities only) and i was a movie addict from my childhood. and then Asiad turned everything into colorful panorama.
  • Now the desire turned to VCR..and I thought that once i have it we wont need to go out to halls and all, it will be real fun, and yes initially it was fun, but then everything becomes routine.
  • I used to get 10 paisa per day to spend, (of course all the expenses were taken up by parents, it was only for munching something in School) and it was sufficient for us, Myself and my sister never demanded more, only once my Chacha(uncle) said...(ours was a joint family).....we must increase it to 12 paisa he called it..mehangai bhatta..hehe---Dearness allowance in corporate language:), compare to the pocket money today.......and we were the happy lot..no dissatisfaction at all:)
This is the way life goes on....first mobile then Ipod , now I phone......and the things will keep coming and we shall keep running after them, the point is that these are only accesories to a life, not the life itself. Things come and go,its only the people in our life who remain there, so----
Never waste an opportunity to tell someone you love them.

First in 2009

Wish you ALL A Prosperous and Happy New Year !!!

Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be happy and successful ...

Have a Successful Year ahead !!! 2009 HAPPY AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR

"Everything in life is temporary. Darkness of the night; or a bright day. Even sunrise is temporary; so is sunset. So if things are going good, enjoy it because it won't last forever. And if things are going bad, don't worry. Because it won't last forever either. Everything passes by"

Have a great life ahead !!! .

A year has passed, since i started blogging, though I started the blog long back but started writing only a year back. What a great enlightening journey it has been ! In the beginning..i was a complete novice..not that i am an expert now, but then i didnt know any short forms..like what is D or P:)...like that, and if got some comment, didnt know that i must acknowledge it, then my daughter sat with me and told me..ma , the blog is like your home and if somebody comes to ur home, aint u going to visit them and acknowledge them. and me felt too shy to reply the comment or write a comment. Would you believe it if i said that initially i used to ask my D to write on my behalf:), it was the same as when I got married, everybody called us for dinner, and i being so shy would avoid the invitations like anything, sometomes I would ask my H to go alone..poorH..he will say...but they have called because they want to welcome u:(.....I cant believe , i have changed over the years so much...from a complete silent introvert to a total extrovert, talkative person.
I started this blog to write my heart out and i wanted my views to reach others. But slowly and slowly following the etiquettes of the blogville......came the rules and propriety...and somewhere it turns a person into too much of a diplomat, whereas my whole life i have followed one thing strictly.....be genuine in whatever u say or do. Even in very trivial things also, i dont like to tell a lie..like whenever we go to someone's place for dinner, usual thanks would be something like that from everybody...oh the dinner was delicious, very tasty and blah blah, but for me...if i liked only one dish, I will appreciate that only and if i liked nothing, I would appreciate the efforts that hostess has put,.
last year I had taken a few resolutions and I feel I have followed them quite well, this time I would reiterate that...
I will follow the policy of no complaints...from people or life--in today's world complaining hardly gets u anything except in the govt. offices.....
acceptance and acknowledments of everything.
Be geuine , sorround yourself with the people who like u or whom u like, so that you have a positive aura all around.
Be happy with what you can do for your self and others, dont depend on others for your happiness.
Before saying or doing anything first chk----it doesnt hurt anybody, because I believe that anything which hurts anyone cant ever be good for u. Hurting anybody verbally or otherwise a strict no--no--in my book.
Be environment friendly..say no to plastic, consume less water and electricity.
Consume everything in lesser quantity.
Do something for less privileged.
These are a few commandments of mine, wish me good luck , so that i can follow them.

WINTER IN NORTH

I am in Lucknow and I am telling you about few of my observations and few people I met.
I met a lady who was grief stricken because her daughter....a young achiever in her own right , may not get married into their own caste. She was feeling so humiliated with just a thought of that------how much their society will condemn them and all that and want her daughter to give a thought to marriage and stop pursuing her career so seriously........I was wondering...why such a budding career is being snubbed , and getting brickbats instead of appreciation.....
And then I met a lady of 75 yrs who is living alone and kept 10-12 girls as PG , and she is now very active and enjoying life:)...way to go......
At the distance of around 15-18 km from Lucknow, on Barabanki road is a DARGAH-----of Waaris Ali Shah. The beauty of this sacred place lies in its secularity..there were more Hindu visitors than Muslims. And I felt that when we can have so much of mutual acceptance at a religious place, why not in personal life also?
Now Lucknow has changed so much, specially Gomti nagar area, i wonder..why dont we have any BPO centres or Software companies there, why cant for once our politicians think of developing UP?
When I come to north in winter, I love eating peanuts ,sitting outside in the sun and having endless cups of tea........

DOWRY LAWS IN INDIA

Long back when I saw the movie ANDHA KANOON ifelt so strongly for the protagonist that he ddint get justice but that doesnt happen in the movies only. Recently something happened to someone I know which tells us that we need to do something about our legislations where witnesses and proof only get the verdict and the law becomes really blind.
There was this young lower middle class boy, let us call him Ajay. he got married to a impetous girl. He loved her a lot and cared a lot for her.Once they had a fight on a very petty thing like she wanted him to take her to her mother;s place, he denied as he had to go to his job, cudnt take leave every second day and when she insisted he slapped her. and that slap wrote his destiny as she drank the poison. The boy took her to hospital crying all the time, but couldnt save her and she couldnt give her statement before dying.
Now Indian laws are such tht if within 7 yrs of marriage something happens to the girl, her inlaws are taken to task, and here his sister-in-law said that she saw him giving poison to her, so a case was made against his full family including even the brother who wasnt home.
As is the norm, case went on for 10 yrs---in fighting the case, they lost everything, their bussiness ,money and all, with no peace of mind.
And now all 5 brothers and their parents(80 yr old) are sentenced to 8 yrs imprisonment.
As is the case normally they are all the bread earners of their families. Ajay also married a handicapped girl and has 2 very young kids. Now all the families will be left without anyone to feed them.
Now the question arises, is it logical to punish so many people, where many innocents will be suffering.Cant we devise a way where we dont create a situation to encourage crime--like here if the children are deprived of their father who is main bread earner also, what will happen to them/ Isnt there any solution for this social problem?

having kids makes u happy

With reference to my last post i saw this article---

When I was growing up, our former neighbors, whom we'll call the Sloans, were the only couple on the block without kids. It wasn't that they couldn't have children; according to Mr. Sloan, they just chose not to. All the other parents, including mine, thought it was odd—even tragic. So any bad luck that befell the Sloans—the egging of their house one Halloween; the landslide that sent their pool careering to the street below—was somehow attributed to that fateful decision they'd made so many years before. "Well," the other adults would say, "you know they never did have kids." Each time I visited the Sloans, I'd search for signs of insanity, misery or even regret in their superclean home, yet I never seemed to find any. From what I could tell, the Sloans were happy, maybe even happier than my parents, despite the fact that they were (whisper) childless.
My impressions may have been swayed by the fact that their candy dish was always full, but several studies now show that the Sloans could well have been more content than most of the traditional families around them. In Daniel Gilbert's 2006 book "Stumbling on Happiness," the Harvard professor of psychology looks at several studies and concludes that marital satisfaction decreases dramatically after the birth of the first child—and increases only when the last child has left home. He also ascertains that parents are happier grocery shopping and even sleeping than spending time with their kids. Other data cited by 2008's "Gross National Happiness" author, Arthur C. Brooks, finds that parents are about 7 percentage points less likely to report being happy than the childless.
The most recent comprehensive study on the emotional state of those with kids shows us that the term "bundle of joy" may not be the most accurate way to describe our offspring. "Parents experience lower levels of emotional well-being, less frequent positive emotions and more frequent negative emotions than their childless peers," says Florida State University's Robin Simon, a sociology professor who's conducted several recent parenting studies, the most thorough of which came out in 2005 and looked at data gathered from 13,000 Americans by the National Survey of Families and Households. "In fact, no group of parents—married, single, step or even empty nest—reported significantly greater emotional well-being than people who never had children. It's such a counterintuitive finding because we have these cultural beliefs that children are the key to happiness and a healthy life, and they're not."
placeAd2(commercialNode,'bigbox',false,'')

Simon received plenty of hate mail in response to her research ("Obviously Professor Simon hates her kids," read one), which isn't surprising. Her findings shake the very foundation of what we've been raised to believe is true. In a recent NEWSWEEK Poll, 50 percent of Americans said that adding new children to the family tends to increase happiness levels. Only one in six (16 percent) said that adding new children had a negative effect on the parents' happiness. But which parent is willing to admit that the greatest gift life has to offer has in fact made his or her life less enjoyable?
Parents may openly lament their lack of sleep, hectic schedules and difficulty in dealing with their surly teens, but rarely will they cop to feeling depressed due to the everyday rigors of child rearing. "If you admit that kids and parenthood aren't making you happy, it's basically blasphemy," says Jen Singer, a stay-at-home mother of two from New Jersey who runs the popular parenting blog MommaSaid.net. "From baby-lotion commercials that make motherhood look happy and well rested, to commercials for Disney World where you're supposed to feel like a kid because you're there with your kids, we've made parenthood out to be one blissful moment after another, and it's disappointing when you find out it's not."
Is it possible that American parents have always been this disillusioned? Anecdotal evidence says no. In pre-industrial America, parents certainly loved their children, but their offspring also served a purpose—to work the farm, contribute to the household. Children were a necessity. Today, we have kids more for emotional reasons, but an increasingly complicated work and social environment has made finding satisfaction far more difficult. A key study by University of Wisconsin-Madison's Sara McLanahan and Julia Adams, conducted some 20 years ago, found that parenthood was perceived as significantly more stressful in the 1970s than in the 1950s; the researchers attribute part of that change to major shifts in employment patterns. The majority of American parents now work outside the home, have less support from extended family and face a deteriorating education and health-care system, so raising children has not only become more complicated—it has become more expensive. Today the U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that it costs anywhere from $134,370 to $237,520 to raise a child from birth to the age of 17—and that's not counting school or college tuition. No wonder parents are feeling a little blue.

Societal ills aside, perhaps we also expect too much from the promise of parenting. The National Marriage Project's 2006 "State of Our Unions" report says that parents have significantly lower marital satisfaction than nonparents because they experienced more single and child-free years than previous generations. Twenty-five years ago, women married around the age of 20, and men at 23. Today both sexes are marrying four to five years later. This means the experience of raising kids is now competing with highs in a parent's past, like career wins ("I got a raise!") or a carefree social life ("God, this is a great martini!"). Shuttling cranky kids to school or dashing to work with spit-up on your favorite sweater doesn't skew as romantic.
For the childless, all this research must certainly feel redeeming. As for those of us with kids, well, the news isn't all bad. Parents still report feeling a greater sense of purpose and meaning in their lives than those who've never had kids. And there are other rewarding aspects of parenting that are impossible to quantify. For example, I never thought it possible to love someone as deeply as I love my son. As for the Sloans, it's hard to say whether they had a less meaningful existence than my parents, or if my parents were 7 percent less happy than the Sloans. Perhaps it just comes down to how you see the candy dish—half empty or half full. Or at least as a parent, that's what I'll keep telling myself.

Hostel blues

My little nephew has just left home and gone to Kota to do coaching. Sending the kids at a tender age is such a heart wrenching exercise that one is always in a dilemma ..to send or not.........and it triggers a host of memories in my mind.
I still remember all the incidents when we also went out to study as we were living in a small place with no facilities for higher education.
I was only eleven and half when i left home, and then I was adamant the way all the children are----that I want to go out, study science and this and that,........my mom never wanted to send me....................but i was arrogant enough to say----u dont want to send me because then there will be no one to scold or work.(ha Ha)...........how wrong i was..........and I only know how miserable I was without my family but egoistic enough to never admit it:)
And then my sister went to Nainital in the same way, she also wanted to study in boarding and in Nainital:) and one day when we got a letter from her, it was so emotional that my mom and me started crying immediately:) and my father was bewildered and asked -why are u sobbing so uncontollably:)
Even after 20 yrs situation never changes, as the emotions are same.I can still vividly remember My son standing at the door of railway compartment looking so vulnerable and lonely....
my daughter's face when I first left her at her hostel at Pilani---standing there............completely white as if someone has squeezed the blood out of her......
.My heart went out to them.
And the cycle goes on.......now I keep thinking about my nephew--------.
sometimes I think are the children really the pleasure we think them to be or a life long worry, because parents never cease to worry about their children whether they are 5 yr or 50 yr old. The other day my daughter said that----in life there is always a reaction of everything, so if anything brings u happiness, then it will make you sad also and it is so true, what do u think?

maid management

This year i have taken a few resolutions and trying to follow them diligently:). But u know sometimes ,some people bring out the worst side of yours. Just now i was reading someone's blog about maids and i also wrote all the big lofty ideals and blah blah...... But everyday it happens that.. i have two maids and one of them always irritates me like.......I have employed her recently only because she said she would come early and on time (her work is not upto my standard but I thought of compromising for i wanted somebody early.....And now she is coming late every second day :( I just dont know what to do...be angry....chuck her out or what......

The second one is for cooking--lunch and dinner.....and for that she sometimes turns up at 2 Pm for lunch and then prefers to do all the cooking at the same time :( If i ask her to come earlier, she is there at 9.30.

I am at my wits end how to synchronise both of them and get the best deal, because cook comes and the vessels are not cleaned, so she cant cook, any ideas about how to manage?

Thyroid

Now a days Thyroid malfunction is quite common, and since 2-3 members of my family are suffering from this I have gathered some information about it which I am sharing.
This gland controls the metabolism of our body, so everything gets topsy turvy, if it is malfunctioning. With hypothyroidism, one gets wt problems, digestion problems etc.
My thyroid was working normally, but one of its lobe was enlarged, that to the extent of 10 times to its original size. And there is no sure fire way of knowing whether this growth is benign or malignant, or even if it is benign presently when it might turn into malignant, because one cant get it checked everymonth or so. So to be safer Doctors advised the removal of both the lobes.
Symptoms----I didnt have any problem as such, only there was a visible growth in the neck and
I used to have lot of allergic problems in my throat, though I cant say whether they were because of thyroid enlargement or just like that.
Earlier i had got all the checkups like FNAC and ultrasounds done at Apollo, then here in Chennai somebody referred me to an surgical endocrinologist---Professor M Chandrasekharan. He is a sort of pioneer in this field. He said that i had no other option, other than to get it removed immediately.
And so we got it done at harvey hospital in Alwarpet, where he operated. It is a major surgery done under GA, Surgery took one and a half hours, another 2-3 hours in ICU and then in my room. Got discharged third day.
The major risk in this surgery is that---voice may be affected or go completely, of course there are further surgeries available to cure that but still it is a big complication.
The after effect of this surgery is that now I will have to take thyroid tablets for my whole life and take care of calcium supplements.
Through this post i would like to appreciate and pay a tribute to---
Professor Sekharan ---
who operated upon me-he was a blessing in disguise for me-so efficient,so precise and fast and i am yet to see anywhere any operation done in such a meticulous way and on exact scheduled time.because the waiting period is always very torturous for the patients family and normally doctors unnecessarily prolong that time by not following the schedule diligently. here everything was done exactly at the scheduled time.
Staff at harvey hospital----
here the service is very good, all the girls were nice ,attentive with a smiling face. Only patients family understands the value of that smile. Two girls-Indra and Suma were very good in their job and their head nurse also, my daughter got an insect bite, she treated her very nicely.
That receptionist at Mccarthy thyroid clinic---
When my operation date was decided upon, she patted my shoulder and said-dont worry at all, i will pray for you, this little gesture of hers made me so happy.I know that because of the well wishes of so many people and god, i am fine today.I cant thank enough for that.
I only wish that--
Prof. Sekharan is a little more open to the patients and their queries----sometimes satisfying a patient's mind is also a part of treatment. I always felt so much in awe, that i forgot all my questions. But I am indebted to him for my life.
In the harvey hospital -----cleaning is not upto the standard, hospital is meant for hygiene, there was dust everywhere, wall paper was peeling, bathrooms were also giving a look of dialapidation
They have very good staff, only if they could revamp the rooms a little with bright colors , furnishings need not to be expensive, but shouldnt be broken or dirty.
But there food was good:)

There is nothing one can say about preventing it, the only thing is low fat diet and exercise and active life they are good for everything and same is in this case also. And any weight loss or gain for no apparent reason must be looked into.

maid servants-bai

Maids are also biggest tension providers---if you have them then you are always worrying--when will she come, or if she has taken a leave today, and if u dont have , then you are always searching for them. Once I find somebody, I normally fix one thing very specifically like time.
So here I fixed 7.30 am for her, first she came at 8, then 9, then 10 and then sometimes she came at 1 pm. Poor me--------always waiting..........waiting,and more waiting and then getting angry, hyper, making my BP higher, and so ultimately i chucked her. and then she comes to me, saying that she works in a house where always she gets late as she is given much more work to do than decided upon.
And it came to mind that normally we dont think twice before asking our maids to do something extra for multiple reasons...like we have guests, or we have called people for dinner etc. without
thinking that she has other houses also, and she has her hands full. And poor maids end up getting all the blame for their irregularities and sometimes even loosing their jobs.So who is to blame?.......we educated people taking advantage of them or they who are uneducated but generous with what they have---capacity of doing physical labour.... So what is the solution ?
i think that if we keep a part time servant, we must stick to the work plan we engaged her for, nothing extra, otherwise not only we are taking advantage of Her --- if we are not paying extra for that ----and if we are paying extra then we are inconveniencing our neighbors-those houses where she is working.
If you have any other idea how to manage this, please tell me.

HOW I WAS DUPED

I was so happy and smiling from ear to ear , thinking-see, i got such a good opportunity in business, I will take order from him and supply from that.
Now u will say then...........what happened..................hona kya tha, he dissappeared never to show his face.:(
This is life my dear, which teaches you at every step. Now its upto u how u learn. Nothing happens without a reason.

2-3 news today in TOI worth mentioning---

  • Suicide of Praveena-she was married 2 months back, fought with her husband on honeymoon only and came back without telling him to her parents, when they scolded her. she lived with her grandparents.................................

What the world is coming to, marriage is not a ladoo to be eaten, its only hard work which makes it successful. One needs to work continuously first to make the bond stronger and then to keep it alive. I feel surprised that today when people are going all out for seeking info and advice for the good health, better carrier and prosperity, why they are leaving behind the relationships.Relationships are the main stay of life and contribute a lot for the well being of everybody.I feel so happy only because i have so many people around me who love me, but for keep on getting their love, I will have to work towards that. Nothing comes on a platter. I feel pity for the people who take their relationships for granted and when everything is lost they repent but nothing can be gained after a certain time. And suicide----its the biggest waste of a precious life, and life long sadness for the parents of the person who commits. There is nothing, absolutely nothing in life , no problem which can not be solved and suicide is a problem not solution of anything.

  • Women cop held taking bribe---------

I always used to think that if more women come into the professions, world may be a better place to live, as they will be more honest and committed, but it seems to be not like that. may be it is the position or what, but women also take to corruption the same as men. I am completely disillusioned.

  • Shinjini finally recovers-----------------

She is a 16 yr old girl who took part in a reality show and rudely rejected by the judges and she lost her speech. She is on the TV 24 hrs, blame being put on the judges. But I fully disagree with that, according to me parents are to blamed, because it is parents who want their children to participate because of the greed for fame and money. They know the format of the show and agree for everything. For winners everything is good and for losers---------they start telling about the minus points of these shows.

  • Heavy rain hits normal life in Mumbai-------------------

Every year rains create a havoc in Mumbai, residents are put to lot of problems and difficulties, may lives are in danger, and some even loose their lives BUT govt. never takes concrete steps to tackle the problem, I cant understand the apathy of the system.........., but I am so scared of mumbai rains that i would never want my children to visit mumbai in this season.
  • Loan waiver creates " haves" and "havenots"
Here the irony is that haves are those who didnt pay their loans and havenots are those who were paying regularly. And now the villagers who paid are regretting because they scrimped and saved to pay, and now they are saying that they would not pay thier loans now, because in next few years govt. will again come up with such an scheme ( quite a hair brained one). honesty does not pay according to them now. Our finance minister is changing the minds of people and how.............

compliments & comments

Just now i read on a blog about complimenting, read a lot about it in Chicken soup for the soul also.
Compliments are the most powerful tool in shaping someone;s personality. Good or bad, they have the power to make or break a person .A child , who gets lots of good compliments, is always full of positive energy and gets lot of encouragement to do well, be good, but negative comments always sap the energy.Normally what happens that we are very liberal with criticism but stingy when it comes to praise. It shouldnt be. Rather it should be the opposite, if we keep the criticism to us, it wouldnt make any difference, though I feel that some amount of constructive criticism is necessary for the betterment of a person.
Children who always get compliments always strive to be better and work hard towards that. And i have seen it in life that they turn out to be good person in life. While getting no appreciation or only negative comments make the person bitter in life and insecure about other;s affections and affects his or her total outlook towards life and people.
But the way too much of sugar makes the taste bitter, too much appreciation also can make a person too sure of himself, arrogant and selfcentred. So moderation is the key in everything. And as I said earlier even genuine criticism is also healthy.Plus compliments must be always genuine. I hate fake compliments. Like when somebody comes to dinner, they will always say---sab bahut accha ha---everything is good, which cant be, so better say any one thing which you really like, may be the dish, decoration and if nothing is there, then say thanks for the trouble the hostess took.
In the daily dealings also, one must never hesitate to compliment. compliment liberally and make the life and world a beautiful place to live in.
One thing I always believe in ; that be genuine in whatever we do or say.

massage for life

A boy was born to a couple after eleven years of marriage. They were a loving couple and the boy was the gem of their eyes. When the boy was around two years old, one morning the husband saw a medicine bottle open. He was late for office so he asked his wife to cap the bottle and keep it in the cupboard. His wife, preoccupied in the kitchen totally forgot the matter. The boy saw the bottle and playfully went to the bottle fascinated by its color and drank it all. It happened to be a poisonous medicine meant for adults in small dosages. When the child collapsed the mother hurried him to the hospital, where he died. The mother was stunned. She was terrified how to face her husband. When the distraught father came to the hospital and saw the dead child, he looked at his wife and uttered just five words.QUESTIONS:1. What were the five words ?2. What is the implication of this story?scroll down to

read....;ANSWER :
The husband just said "I am with you Darling"The husband's totally unexpected reaction is a proactive behavior. The child is dead. He can never be brought back to life. There is no point in finding fault with the mother.Besides, if only he had taken time to keep the bottle away, this would not have happened. No one is to be blamed. She had also lost her only child. What she needed at that moment was consolation and sympathy from the husband. That is what he gave her. If everyone can look at life with this kind of perspective, there would be much fewer problems in the world. "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.Take off all your envies, jealousies, unforgiveness, selfishness, and fears. And you will find things are actually not as difficult as you think.
MORAL OF THE STORYThis story is really worth reading. .....
Sometimes we spend time in asking who is responsible or whom to blame, whether in a relationship, in a job or with the people we know. By this way we miss out something called LIFE.
