New Year and my resolutions

Another year passed and again its time to think about resolutions. So far my track record has been very good, whatever I resolve, I follow, but this year what I am thinking of, needs others co-operation too. You see recently I crossed the milestone of 60..and got the proper stamp of a senior citizen( though women are considered senior citizen after 58 only)..I feel that its high time I got complete freedom from all societal pressures. Now everybody may think that at my age what pressure I can have, but this is not true.I have so many. But now I want to say that..

I will not call or talk to anybody whom  I dont want to.for whatever reason.I feel irritated with forced talk..result may be the loss of relationship, but i am ready to loose that.

I will not go anywhere, where I dont find the need to go like there are so many occasions where its just a formality to show your presence, and in the process, one spends sometimes lot of money and bears the inconvenience..most of the time its for some deaths in the families, sometimes its for marriages also..But here my belief is that if i care for someone, I do my best for them, and to them I will show my grief also, but going long distances just to give attendance is a waste of resources and i find it very awkward to condole somebody verbally.

I dont want to be extra nice to bad people..yes there are some vicious people whom you want to blast left and right and being nice to them is a strain on my energy.

I  shall voice my opinion freely without thinking of consequences :)

Dont you think that there should be a certain span of life when you live as you want?
Now friends, tell me, are my resolutions feasible, will I be able to follow them?

Will you be able to follow them? Some yes and some don't. For example, you said you will not call or talk to anybody. Not even your spouse and children?

Happy New Year Renu.

Shilpa: Thank you Shilpa !..I want to but I dont know whether I would be able to.

SG: I corrected my post..I will not talk, if I dont want to..if I want I will..I find it very unnecessary to follow the protocol all the time.

I understand and respect your resolutions but they are difficult to follow, I feel. Some things will not change and we cannot change when we live here, I feel.

Anyway, you are a strong minded lady...good luck and be happy, Renu always...Happy New Year!

Congratulations on turning 60! You don't look a day older than 50! And trust me I am not lying.
Different resolution. But why wait till 60 to follow it? Is it you are wiser with age and know who is what or is it you think you have a degree of independence now and this is the time
I feel if you have been a person who has followed protocol..... Old habits die hard and you might find it difficult with or without the help of others. Otherwise it's a very interesting resolution.... Something I kinda follow... So you will be happier at the end of it.
Do keep us posted how it goes!

Hi Renuji, congratulations on turning 60! Please do what makes you feel happy and content...and once done don't second guess it. We can't make others happy all the time, at the cost of our own selves. Am also realising the need to be kind over being right and use that to decide my course of action.

Wishing you a Happy New Year 2017!

Hmm, I see no reason why they are not practical, possible. Well though it is a forthright policy speaking your mind may not be socially diplomatic. But then to hell with niceties when they are not required.

Welcome to the 60s club! And wish you a very happy new year. I am sure your resolutions are doable. I agree with all of them. I find forced bonhomie a big strain too, as I am by nature an introvert. I am also spending more time in spiritual pursuits and writing stuff I want to write, not what I think people want to read :) Hugs to you dear Renu!

Sandhya: I know that its very difficult..but i think one has to start some way:)

sm: thank you and I reciprocate the same.

Amrita: Earlier I couldnt, because I was younger to many, secondly i had many family duties my children are settled and I have managed my family ties and protocol specially with inlaws for so many years, now want to be free of any obligations:)..if somebody is good to me, I would be obviously nice to them but not to everybody.

Chatty wren: Good luck Vibha !I hope you are able to do that..sometimes I feel that our whole life goes in bending backwards and still nobody is pleased.

Anil Kumar Kurup:I hope so..being diplomatic all the time is quite a strain to me, as I am a very straightforward person.

Zephyr:Thank you !..I am really not a diplomatic person, but i try to be quiet instead of saying what I dont mean...I would love to know more about your spiritual pursuits.

I am surprised Renu, these are the very resolutions I committed myself to,a few years back.Yes I did lose a few relationships in the process but I have lesser stress now.

induchhibber: See we think alike:)..loosing such relationships is ok.

Dreams of parents

Now a days counselling and admissions are going on for colleges, so I see parents fretting around and always talking about reservations and...
