The biggest strength of our life are our values, traditions, relations and certain rules which we follow wheth.er we like or not। Now a days when I see people justifying everything; like saying-Ramayana is outdated or when boys are not like Rama why should girls be expected to behave like Seeta ,i feel surprised at their ignorance.Ramayana can still solve most of our problems if we go by it.
Why otherwise so many relationship management books are getting so popular or why so much importance being given to stress management. Its upto us where we find solution either going to the new age classes or going back to the roots.
Why so many youngsters are delving into spritual field and trying to find the knowledge and truth ? This is not their age to go into that specially in todays busy times when nobody has time even for families. The reason is that this generation wants to go away from the rules and regulations because they want to be free of everything ,everybody and all responsibilities. But then they are not really happy inside, so they are looking for happiness in all the things spiritual.
While in India we have earmarked the times very clearly about the different duties in a life time. And god has given us this life with a particular purpose, whereby we are given certain responsibilties and if we perform them with all our best efforts, we will certainly attain the moksha, there is no better way of finding god than leading a virtuous life. But we find that performing our duties interferes with our comforts and we cant compromise our life and thats why we go on finding spiritual knowledge and doing all pujas and everything. See everything should be done at its own place and time, like if you are supposed to look after your young child but instead of that you do pooja in that time, you will never please god.So its better to learn the right perspective and right priorities. In life everything goes together, we cant compartmentalise neither things nor people
Good relationship are like trees, they demand attention and care in the beginning but once they blossom, they provide you shade in all the situations of life.
Life is not fair but good. My blog is an attempt to realise that goodness. We often rush through life, thinking that money, things or jockeying for position will really get us somewhere faster. We think that we will get to joy, fulfillment, and peace faster. That's really what we want. But since our seats are assigned in the journey of life, it really doesn't matter. Welcome to my Blog! I hope you enjoy it.comments are welcome

Maybe the new generation don’t appreciate an oddly clad Ram or Lakshman holding bow and arrow…denim clad, heavily armored with modern artilleries might arouse their interest…
Well, the generation gap is widening between each generation …children grow up faster…they have access to tremendous information even at young age…modern life style has its impact on them… maybe they are exposed more supermen and women than Sri Ram and values and cultures, traditions etc
Like you say, we need gardening at the root level
SO true the problem today is people dont want to WORK do the hard work..
and as u say its like trees if we help them grow up they provide with shelter, food and branches for fire to keep us warm
os very true..
Bikram's
Renu,
what I feel is we see these values and rules as a benefit to the individuals.
We simply fail to grasp the fact that my peace and happiness is inter connected with the happiness of those around me.
The values and rules are for the benefit of a society rather than an individual..so if I look from my isolated view point, I will find these draconic.
'Good relationship are like trees, they demand attention and care in the beginning but once they blossom, they provide you shade in all the situations of life', so true, Renu!
Very good post. As usual with a specific message.
Ranu,
This was a thought provoking post. Today's youth lack patience. they need instant results - be it success or happiness or a life. They cant work towards it.
You cant find happiness outside; its the state you ought to be in. God is within each one of us.
I agree that values are the basis of a good life. Also that relationships need to be nurtured, and people need to fulfill their duties. I feel read the Ramayan or Mahabharat and interpret them in their own way. In my parents' generation, once a couple had kids, their life as a couple was over. Their kids were the center of their existence. I find that logic skewed. I have kids too,and agreed that the decisions, my husband and I make are centered around them. But, we also have a very important relationship as a couple which does not need to be sacrificed. So, we look for our own connections and entertainment too. The same applies to the ability to question and to have the freedom to do things responsibly. Values should not shacked by rituals and traditions so that they become oppressive and revolting.
deeps: children's conditioning starts from their childhood and today parents are busy in making money, enjoying their life and being ambitious in the jobs and left the children to internet.
Bikram: For evrything we want to take the easy way out..and thats not the way to success.
Jon: exactly..for evry action we have a reaction in this world and evry action of us is an amportant part of a world chain.
A;.is it too preachy:)?
insignia:.yes in the times of fast fod, they need fast happiness, whereas happiness is cultivated.
Rachna:Yes Rachna, today we need me time and our time too...but everything can be managed with values too.VAlues are nevr dependent on rituals and traditions.
wonderful post Renu...thanx for sharing..
Tasty appetite
Hi Renu, it is a post that makes one think.I totally agree with Rachna in this matter. And as you have said one must have that me time. If you think deeply it is always better to look after oneself first before we start looking after others. For only when we are happy we can be in a position to give happiness to others. That is my view and the view that has been drilled in me from the time i encountered Reiki in my life and I truly believe it works.
Another pearl of wisdom from you...yes I agree, most of us want everything and don't have the patience to wait for it...our expectations are getting higher by day and so are our ambition levels...nothing wrong in it but then the disappointment quotient is also changing proportionately!
well written
yes important is duty not Pooja
Enjoyed my first visit
enjoyed my first visit
Sandhya: yes sandhya, relationships are very important.
Jay: My pleasure indeed:)
Rama: yeah its right that unless you youself are happy ,you cant make others happy, but then if your happiness comes at the cost of other's, then also its not OK.
We need to balance out everything.
kanupriya: there is nothing wrong in being ambitious or over expectations even, as long we do our duties in life diligentlyand have the courage to accept the consequences.
sm:Both are important but god doesnt accept pooja at the cost of duty:)
Thommy: welcome here and hope to see you often!!!
Good relationship are like trees, they demand attention and care in the beginning but once they blossom, they provide you shade in all the situations of life.
Loved this...but in reality, it becomes very difficult to follow this. I guess for this to happen one has to forget "self".
Happy Kitten: you see ..anything good in life, nevr comes easily, soa s we work hard to get good job, studies, promotion etc etc, we must apply the same hard work here.
the problem is everything and i mean everything available for a price.. n some ppl dont realise that because u dont work hard for it.. that looses its importance.. n u dont cherish it much.. thats where the spiritual route comes into play.. its all about self realisation.. and knowing the value of things in ones life.
Ani:Thats right, whatevr we get without working hard is nevr worth it.
Loved the last sentence Renu, good post.
Decent post.
Our values are influenced by those whom we interact with.We have lost our values to the invading cultures of the west. What is left of our values?
chitra; Thanks Chitra!!
dr.Antony:west influence it is!
Well I agree and disagree, I think we should take from these scriptures what is practically applicable in todays times. The character traits of the perfect man'RAM',is totally acceptable and people should try to inculcate them.
However, several other aspects are unacceptable, like the servile wife, purity testing(agnipariksha), seperation due to fear of social stigma and many more..
We must be progressive in our interpretation and not regressive.
Pratibha: welcome here!
Yes we must nevr be regressive, but being progressive is defined differently by different people...family is made only thru adjustments, if we think all the time about right, wrong , fair ,unfair, then we can nevr have a cohesive family.
