FIRST WEEK IN LONDON

When i was waiting at the Chennai airport, in the lounge two women were sitting with three vacant chairs, but when I wanted to sit there, they said that they had their family coming....this sort of reservation irritates me a lot...in the waiting lounge, nobody is there permanently, by the time their family would come, there may be few more seats vacant..such people are very inconsiderate type.

I reserved AI India ticket only because of their service and food, and this time both were not good. One air hostess was so indifferent to passengers that I thought that she shouldnt be here. They didnt serve anything till we were in the air for one hour and then too, neither food was good, nor any variety..it looks like the airline is poverty stricken..but then why penalise the passengers, we are paying full fare, cut your own costs.Once serving the food, nobody came for even water, for three hours, even if we called, they just ignored...now AI has lost atleast me, I would never travel with them.
London has become so crowded and a structure in total concrete, there are hardly any open places or greenery. and traffic is as slow or sometimes even slower than Chennai:)
But we are living in an apartment on the Thames....its just so beautiful..whole day we can watch cruises and ships going here and there.
Here little kids are given a very special care and most of the things are provided free from the govt ...its something worth emulating for us...for one month midwives come home and chk mother and child and provided all the care and medicine free.
Some norms are very different too, like they dont allow us to give water to our grandson, whereas in India it is highly recommended., they dont give a bath daily, which is mandatory for us.

Lastly I am sorry that i am not able to reply to the comments and chk other blogs, but let me settle down a little bit:).......

It happens so often in every public places people gather, like theatres, buses, and all. People would reserve things using towels and would go to somewhere only to come back at the right time the programme starts. I found it very irritating..

That "reserving place" is something very selfish and inconsiderate.
As for AI, my fist reaction was "Oh my God, why AI?"
I think its going for a total collapse. Serves them right for snatching it away from J R D Tata.

So, enjoying the company of your grandson! Be happy, Renu!

They never give hot food in the flight in British Airways too...everything is cold and the food, too tasteless like rubber! So, two airlines ruled out, hahaha!

@Renu,

First priority comes first...take care of the family first. :)))

Airlines are getting worst in every part of the world. I am so used to it now. London is still a very good city.

Enjoy with your family Renu, all the best.

Congrats Renu:-))!!!!!

Medical care in UK is excellent....but then the citizens are paying for it from their income arent they...I mean insurance & all tht.
What I like is tht women can adjust their job shifts & timings & decide how many days in a week according to their needs.

Try Emirates next time....they pride themselves on being the best & are good too:-).

Forget about everything and just enjoy your stay in London, that too with a beautiful view- don't let these things bother you.
All airlines are awful especially when the travel time is more. Many times they give us the same thing which we had for breakfast, for lunch also saying there is no vegetarian choice, that everything is over, take or leave it.Food in train as well as plane are both useless. Those days are gone when we were served good food.

It is the same in every airline-Tweedle dum and Tweedle dee and mind you they collect hell lot of money.Like Sandhya said BA is also not good on food.
Have an enjoyable time while there.

I hope you are enjoying with your grandson. Yes, and the free healthcare and social security in Europe is definitely worth emulating if these corrupt people leave any funds for anything that is. Apartment on Thames is wonderful!

How is your grand son didi? Well, coming to AI, I think the union is protecting them so much so that they just dont care anymore. They have their jobs safe...so this to-hell-with attitude.

I love London. Been close to 4 years since I have lived there.

I was thinking about the tendency of people to reserve seats using hankies, bags and belongings.
There should be a law that in places where there is no reserved seats by numbers, women, children and aged can legally occupy seats marked as reserved by use of hankies, bags and belongings.

I went to London in June by AI. Last minute booking and therefore did not a choice. The air hostesses/stewards do not care one bit for the passengers. No smiles. Like you said they do not serve water. There were so many who wanted water and ultimately one gentleman got up and went to them and picked up a glass of water. It was only after an hour that one of them volunteered ( maybe after a lot of prodding) to serve a glass of water. Food was not great either. I thought both the service and food on their domestic carrier was better.

So you have become a globetrotter !
This Air India business is well known,I mean notorious..Given an option,I would never choose that. They always ill treat Indians and would lick and drool over any other nationalities. It is as if we are not paying them.
It is much better in European sector when you compare the way treat the poor Indians from the gulf.
