ANGRY TINY TOTS

Yes that was the title of the article in TOI...children are getting angry and aggressive at a very young stage and the reason specialists attribute it to is...parenting.or atleast it has the biggest role.

Today parents want to give children everything they couldnt get as a child, never thinking about what is good for them.

Parents pamper the children with things..in the process making them feel that things are most important in life.

And the kids are growing up to be self centred and materialistic and want to get everything fast and not with much efforts.

children should be taught from the beginning....
the value of restraint,
importance of hard work..that nothing comes free
Living within means..today people say that Indian economy is most resilient, then it is because of Indian habits of saving ,living within means, but if we adopt the habits of living like there is no tomorrow, or living on credit cards, we shall be there  sooner or later..in the recession....

India indeed has many good points, and many other countries can learn from us.

So true! The children need to be taught the right values! Spoiling them is easy..

True, parents have a role in shaping the personality of the children. They keenly observe the traits of parents and imbibe them.
Parental imposition of their aims on children without consideration of the aptitude of children is another reason for them to rebel.
A nice thought provoking post.

Very nice post, Renu! Parents should be careful while spending money and once the children grow up, it should be discussed with them. We think they are too young, but they will start understanding slowly and follow them in the future. Unknowingly, most of us follow our parents' footsteps!

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
parenting is one of the hardest job there is and no one rule works for all as each child is different and respond differently to the same kind of disciplining. Its a trial and error and if we are smart we will learn to be fast learners and understand that its not only about what you teach your child/ren its about what they teach you about yourself and your role as parent.

Renu said...

Rahul bhatia; Yes ,spoiling is easier done than disciplining, and we choose the easy way.

deeps:lets hope that better sense prevails.

Kparthsarthi: On the contrary, I feel that parents are too liberal today, they need to discipline.

Sandhya: Children understand better with example and thats very difficult for the parents:), so they choose the easy way out.

Rhapsody B; true, we can learn a lot from our children....

Jon: Parenting is nevr about the money..

You have raised a very good point here. I become very disturbed whenever I see a child misbehaving or acting rudely or angrily towards others. It is really a reflection of the kind of parenting he or she is getting. More often than not, i find that parents provide them with all the material things. but forget all about guidance and values. very sad indeed

You are right, there was a time when small kids were innocent. But now even small ones seem brash and rude...
How times are changing, for the bad...

ashok: Thanks! and welcome here!

Shreya: Thank you Shreya and welcome here!

Amrita:..how are you?..its really a sad state of affairs.

Arti:daily I read news about some horrible incident..like a child killed her granny..

When we were kids, we were not allowed to ask for anything and we did not feel deprived at all. We knew that our parents would give it to us if they could afford to and if we deserved it. And we grew up just fine and knew the difference between necessities, comforts and luxuries.

Renu said...

radha:.not fine..we have much better attitude and values in life..we make a harmonious society.

Children who grow up having everything at their hand's reach find it very difficult to associate with importance of hard work:-(

Reflections:..yes and they dont even realise the value of things even..
