Humour

Most of the people like fun loving company and admire those who are nice to everybody and full of humour. A person is always admired for his or her great sense of humour. But I rarely meet a person who is genuinely humorous. Most of the time most of the people laugh at the cost of someone. And that type of fun never appeals me.

For instance my hubby is a silent type, but once in a blue moon he wants to joke around, it will be at my cost and when I feel offended, he would say that I dont appreciate joke. I want the person to be fun loving, thru genuine humour and good words.Though i dont mind him because otherwise he is  a nice person. and best husband.

Whenever we use some people to provoke a laugh or use some real habits or real situations to express laughter, then it doesn't remain a joke, it makes people feel humiliated and insulted. On the other hand some people use very ugly language in their conversation and find it funny. I dont. I feel that such people are frustrated ones and take out their frustrations this way.

Some people say everything they want to say to some but in the garb of joking....and it serves purpose in the sense that they may be finding humour in that but for the other one its an insult.

I believe that whatever the situation or subject, one must be civil in all interactions, humour comes thru situations or taking the things lightly, instead of enjoying at the cost of others. Words always hurt more than the actions and are not forgotten easily.

Humor should be common and happiness never at hurting others.

I agree with you. Putting down other people in the form of humor is not correct. For some people, if it happens in other people's home it is "fun" for them. If the same happens in their own home, it is not fun.

I guess the matter is two way. It is good to be humorous when the situation calls for. Banter is good if all enjoy it. To feel offended at the slightest and feel insulted is matter of the mind. Indeed people are different and if one might be offended at harmless banter, it is better not to indulge in it or the hypersensitive person must be aloof. It is social living. Isn’t it? We have to be our judge. Better know the limits and refrain.
Remember the chakiayr koothu was unique in bit of joke at some ones expense.

Yes Renu, some people think that they can crack jokes at the expense of others. Whenever, I come across such situation, I don't know how, but I automatically, crack a joke at the person who started it. That makes them feel bad that they cracked the joke in the first place, and I end up being appreciated to have such spontaneous sense of humour. And the person who started it in the first place always thinks 10 times before trying it out with somebody.

I have also come across people where they say they are humorous people. But they will not like anything said about them. They will like to have jokes by making fun of others and leaving hurt in the mind of others. that looks like more of deriving sadistic pleasure

to make a humour place and time is very important
agree with you

Jeevan: yes I cant understand feeling happy after hurting others..

SG: exactly..same people cant stand others laughing at them then they become sensitive.

AnilKurup: very true..but what i meant to say that for some people HUMOUR is ALWAYS making fun of others..thats not humour...good natured bantering is rarely disliked,..Second such people should themselves be alos open tothat sort of humour, but they are not.,.

Chitra: good to see you after a long time Chitra..I agree with you.

sm:.place time and person too.if we call a fat person fat then its not fun..

Humour at the cost of insult makes me feel sick. I hate those people and like to stay away from them. Why try to create a humorous atmosphere when you very well want to insult someone...isn't it dirty?

Gauri Guha: some people drive sadistic pleasure thru this..

I sometimes do that but it is not to insult the other person. If say the mood is gloomy or everyone is quiet, just to make the other person talk or smile, I sometimes pull their legs by making fun of them. But never do I insult others. But agree, it can be hurtful to others.

Avada Kedavra: anybody pulling leg in good faith is nevr misunderstood, but some people do it all the time and always making fun of others..thats not fair.

That is why I prefer slapstick and tongue-in-cheek humour, because there is absolute nonsense in the first kind and an measure of indulgence in the other. You know, the L&M loves being written about? He gives me suggestions to write on too :) In fact, he is the first fan of the series!

zephyr:I know:)...but i am sorry who is L&M?..your hubby?

Oh, L&M is the Lord and Master. I have a whole series of posts on him and the Brats and he is the first one to read and approve :)

Absolutely correct. But what about people who can make fun of themselves in front of others and make people laugh? Rare breed eh?
