100000 PAGE VIEWS

Today i have completed 100000 page views, though its not big thing as I have been blogging for a long time, but for me it is morale boosting, as I dont have any peer group or cast group or any personal friends on blogging, who come to see me. I have got all the readers through my posts only.

Yesterday was karvachauth, which we celebrate with love and when today i saw net, found many who ridicule the idea.I really wonder..
When we celebrate Valentine day with so much pomposity, do the people really love each other all that much, I dont think west is happier than east.
When we celebrate mother's day or father's day, do we really start caring about parents more, rather it is west where parents are left to fend for themselves in the old age.
So when we celebrate something Indian why so many people want to blast it in the name of equality.Whats wrong with some one doing something for someone they love?..just tell me....Do everyday we do everything for the return only, or for everything we ask what other is doing for us..and if thats so , then its not love, its a barter system..
Already most of the traditions are loosing their charm for this generation, whatever is left, we must do, this is our culture, our roots. This tradition also attracts the young people because its about enjoying, celebrating with good clothes, jewellery, gifts and lot of fun, fasting is only a small part of it....Its a festival of bonding, bonding in the new family for girls....MILS give their DIL sagri, and  sari, jewellery( whatever they can afford and want to), and then DILs give gift to their MIL and husband pampers his wife..so its all bon homie..now a days not many go for nirjal fast, its only a fast.

Every culture has some traditions and they do it, some for fun, some for just like that..what is the logic of Halloween?..but we like that and bringing it her also, no problem, more the merrier, but dont ridicule your own festivals...everything doesnt need to be..whyyyyyyyyy.....

00% Agree with you when you say, we have to celebrate our traditions with pride. In traditions, remain our individuality and our social standing especially in this globalized world. And with individuality we have our self-respect.

I think people are not aware of the essence behind each festival, hence in the name of emancipation they find such customs regressive. yes, rather than diwali or dussehra photos, people take pride in posting halloween photos.

I think India has plenty of native wisdom, sadly not many of us realize this. Every body finds culture, traditions a waste of time.

Like your reasoning Renuji! I don't do Karva Chauth as it's not a tradition in either mine or my husband's family. Co-incidentally I had kept a fast for Tuesday. I think our present generation thinks and questions a bit too much. Not that it is a bad thing to do, but too much deliberation brings its own set of issues, takes out the fun. Traditions need to be celebrated...

oh! and congratulations on crossing 100000 page views, no small achievement:)

Renu, it is unfortunate that people think that they have got wiser and can condemn every tradition little realizing that they are getting rootless with every step in that direction:(

True,Renu.A Malayalam wise saying indicates that Jasmine of our own compound doesn't smell sweet.Numerous Indians are akin to this.

Congratulations on reaching 100,000 page views.

I resumed blogging after a break and it seems like I lost everyone. A lot of people have given up. Considering you are still blogging shows that you do it for yourself and like it. Page counts don't matter in that case anyway but congratulations :)))

Asha:It has become a fashion to ridicule traditions, but loosing our roots will make us float aimlessly.

Chatty Wren: its not a question of fasting but honouring our culture and tradition, there is nothing regressive about it.
And thanks:)

Rahul Bhatia: Those who condemn must get ready for a bleak life later one, as they are showing their children an indisciplined and self centred life.

Rudraprayaga:TRue.grass is always greener on the other side.

SG: Thanks!

Amrit: I blog only for myself and due to my principle of not following the dictum of ..i will scratch ur back, you do mine..for the sake it...I have lost many bloggers.but I cant be so diplomatic and fake:)

Wow.Hearty congratulations!!!
10,000 views is no mean number. You work silently but effectively to spread messages of value and tradition through your posts. There is no fanfare or beating drums but you do what you love very nicely.I am a regular follower of your blog.

Our festivals have rich meaning but sadly in the modern days we have retained the form but lost the content.Loving, bonding and praying for the well being of other dear ones is the spirit behind this festival.A topical post.

Congrats, Renu! I am glad that you are blogging for yourself and your principles regardless of the page views.

I agree with you about our younger (and even older) generation mocking our traditions and customs. As Rahul has rightly pointed out, they are becoming rootless slowly but surely.

Blog on, friend!

Yea i dont know what it is about traditions. i just follow them cos they are traditions. but Karwa chauth is not something we do in my parents' place or at my in laws so i am not sitting on the fence on this one :)

Renu, agree on almost everything you have written here. Just one thought on the barter system bit ... some people call it selfless love, when they do not expect anything in return of the love they bestow on others. Firstly, the definition has actually taken a 180 degree turn ... selfless love is all about expecting others to do everything for you, and not expecting to do anything in return. The direction of being "selfless" has changed. Secondly, however harsh it may sound, in a way the barter needs to take place ... it is so very difficult to keep on "loving" someone, or even "respecting" someone, when in return you get ridicule and humiliation of your feelings. Give and take of love makes it a mutual feeling, which is much more fulfilling, enriching and satisfying.

Amrita: Thanks ! Even I have made a few friends thru blogging..and I hope you are one of them:)

I never sit on fence on anything:)..I have views for anything and everything:)

Ruminating Optimist:..sometimes barter is also done but where love is concerned, it cant be forever like that..somebody gives 60 another 40 but together they make 100.Those who humiliate you, they dont deserve anything and if for some reason one is in such a relationship, then my post is not for them..it is meant for normal modern couples and its here that girls sometimes question everything..why should we do it? why shouldnt he? thats what I am referring to....you are right..relationships are always about give and take but it cant be quantified... There has to be understanding somewhere...

Your arguments are good. There is no reason to disagree.
I guess that when societies and communities can no more stay closed and singular, there will be these cross pollination of customs, festivities and so on.I do not see something unholy in Valentines day for instance. If it is the celebration of love why not? Mothers day Fathers day all are fine if we see beyond the mere ritualistic noises and really care for parents.
It is in the news that at the temple town of Guruvayoor there are a lot of elderly people abandoned by their children. They are taken to the town under the pretext of pilgrimage and abandoned. What is the point in celebrating a day for Mothers and Fathers while they are cast away ?
BTW most celebrations are now mere rituals fanned by commercial interests. The essence is shunned.
Don't you think so ?

Ruminating Optimist said...

Yes madam, agree once again :)

Renu said...

Deep:..Thanks but it has been a long time too:)

Anil Krup: I dont have any problem with valentine day per se, but the way it is tom tomd...
Ask any young girl today, does she want to live with inlaws and look after them..NO, then why have father's day and mother'day..now it has become like ur parents my parents..all BS...those who are good human beings care for all, not selectively..
Nobody really cares much for a spouse even, so why this valentine..just for gifts and food..

Ruminating Optimist: Thanks:)
