India Needs A Prime Minister Like This

The views of Patriotic Australian Prime Minister ! Prime Minister John Howard - Australia .
Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.
Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture.
Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.' 'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom' 'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!'
'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.' 'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'
'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'
'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.' Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, Indian citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths. If you agree please SEND THIS ON and ON
to as much as Indians you know

And thats the basic difference between an indian and aussie or fer that matter any leader of other nation.

If the same speech was given by an indian Premier , then it wld hav been labeled blasphemous/absurd/radicle and what not ?? ..

Having said that , matter of fact is we do not have one national religion. We have hundreds of castes nd religions .. nd most of 'em r native nd not migrated. May b religions could have been the imports but not the ppl.

We face the same problem. Terrorism by radicals. And , how i wish we had someone strong/bold enuf to snuff out them frm our land . Who knws , while saying that another bomb wld hav gone off in a busy market of Delhi .. And all we end up is being mute spectators..

that is the problem in India, we nevr try to understand the meaning of anything before branding it communal or anything.
Anyone doing a terrorist act must be condemned openly and clearly without any bias, but here if u say that terrorists are muslim, it is said we are branding muslims, while its not true, and for that matter muslims must themselves come out and condemn these actsand help the machinery to comb out them.
Unless this vote politics is stopped , nothing will change.
Yes India is a country of varied people, but everybody must say that they are Indian first and then anything else.
None of the country ives so much of freedom to its people the way India gives:)

Believe in God - I agree.

Excellent post...totally relevant in todays times.
Its time for some radical CHANGE!!!

This should be the most silly and irresponsible statement by a head of state, IF Howard has actually said that, which I doubt.

All hindus, muslims, christians, sikhs or athiests have to leave India, if they resort to violence and terror attacks.

Renu said...

Hobo: yea and then all the roblems will be solved, because no religion advocates violence.

Reflections: me too thinks so, we have been too soft with the terrorists so far.

Shaji: I cant verify it,but I thought that for once and all, we must condemn teroorists without any bias about their religion, as terrorists have no religion.
and thanks for dropping here:)

I don’t know how relevant this comment is to the post but il still go ahead..

I don’t know y we always badmouth Muslims wenever thres a bomb blast..v cant accuse the entire community for a handful of Muslims who r behind these blasts..this is wht I call the ‘demonisation of Muslims’..

I agree thre r some Muslims who’ve brought only shame n disrepute to Islam but v still cant badmouth the entire community!

Renu said...

Swats: see, this is the typical reaction of people which makes it difficult to fight terrorism, we are not demonisising any community, but TERRORISTS, I think first we must be very clear in our minds about that. Its just unfortunate that most of the terrorists are muslim, and due to that the community also gets some responsibility to identify them, condemn them and throw them out....and till they get the courage to do that......yes a little bit of humiliation..here and there..will be faced by them.
Like u said earlier..all the baniyaas are not kanjoos, but baniya is synonymous with Kanjoosi...u r a journalist, so u have a bigger responsibility to be fair:)

Renu I think i will disagree here. We don't need a prime minister like that. There are already enough of Thackreys (Raj and Bal) making such kind of statements day in and day out. We have to tell the terrorists to get out and not members of a particular community.

And our country is not infested by terrorists belonging to a particular community. Let me here give you the examlpe of three great assasinations of three great Gandhis:- Mahatama Gandhi was assassinated by our own Godsey. Indira Gandhi by her own sikh body guards and Rajiv Gandhi by a Tamilian, that too a girl. Then there are Maoists and Naxalites, Naga and Mizo and ULFA hostiles. Whom will you ask to get out.

And secondly which language will you ask the settllers in our country to adopt. Our language and dialect changes after every twelve miles and there are fifteen of them printed officialy on our currency notes.

Unlike Australia, our history is centuries old and all the settllers here have contributed greatly to this land in one form or the other. After all we the aryans are also not the originals of this land.

We the Indians belonging to different communities have to understand the psych of the terroists and try to defeat their nefariuos designs by standing up and be counted as one force.

Balvinder: I think u misunderstood the message, he is asking to leave only those people...who dont want to obey the law of land and that is true for eveyone.
What Raj thackery brigade is doing is for their personal vote bank, they dont have country's welfare in their mind, but for all of us it would be better if we stop being soft for terrorists, like in Up politicians giving a clean chit to SIMI.

Renu, what i meant to say is that we do not need leaders who shoot off their mouth quite often without actually taking any action against the perpitrators of the crime, thus antagonising the law abiding citizens of this country with diverse religious beliefs and cultures. I will write about it, in detail, in my blog.

Renu said...

balvinder; you are right but with so much of violencearound, sometimes it is required to take a hard stand, and I dont think religion has any importance here. Since we have been always worrying more about not hurting someone's feelings and less about tackling the crime, we have reached this situation.
When there is excess of all that crimes we need someone like Rebeiro.

Did he actually say that? And he is anyways not the current PM. He had been in the chair for almost 10yrs and there was massive resentment against him towards the end of his second term.
What he said was right in spirit, but extremely irresponsible. A head of state cannot simply admonish the immigrant population like that.
And about believing in God, why cant someone NOT believe in god and still be considered a good person worthy of living in a country?

Renu said...

REBEL: where were u,missing from here for a long time?

I dont know whether he said that or not, I got it in my email. What he said is not wrong, I also believe in respecting the law of land, everybody's sentiments and religion without any pampering either for majority or minority....resident or immigrant
